It is no secret that in the year 2004, there are over two million poeple locked down or under some form of court supervision in the United States. Of that two million over 80% is comprised of people of color.
Included in that number happens to be one Shaka Shakur. He is is a 37 year old Black man that is married to Akili Shakur. Their story of the journey that has led them to this particular place is a tale that could be anyone's story.
On behalf of them and the millions of other captives behind the wall, we would like you to visit Locked Down, Locked Out and hopefully it will motivate ones to no longer sit by passively as this system of institutionalized racism and sexism continues to oppress people of color and working class citizens.
We hope this web site becomes the emblem for the call to social activism on behalf of all oppressed people.
